You can never predict when you might be faced with a life or death situation. But if it comes to it, we want to make sure you have the skills and confidence to be the difference between a life lost and a life saved. Over 85% of people don’t know what CPR is or how to administer First Aid. This ignorance can lead to preventable deaths. Worse still, over 70% of people in Cameroon don’t know their emergency contacts.
Today, our ignorance has turned many into helpless bystanders, more focused on recording live videos of accidents rather than helping. Happy Mother Happy Child launched its First Aid and CPR Awareness Campaign on Saturday, October 13, 2018, under the theme “Every Second Counts.” The campaign aims to educate youths and parents about the importance and benefits of knowing First Aid and CPR and providing basic First Aid tips. Even simple skills can save lives.
The awareness campaign is planned to run for two months across five regions of Cameroon before the official training session begins in January 2019. The goal is to reach at least 10,000 Cameroonian youths and 5,000 parents, educating them and encouraging registration for training by the campaign’s end. It’s time to make a difference—learn First Aid and CPR and be a life saver.
